From June 9, 2003 to June 16, 2003, I embarked on an adventure. This adventure
consisted of chaperoning, with two other friends, 17 youth from the Dakotas
United Methodist Conference (North Dakota and South Dakota) on a trip to
New York City and Washington D.C. The annual trip takes on a theme each year.
This year the theme of the trip was Children of Abraham: Christianity,
Islam, and Judaism As part of the trip, the youth visited a mosque in uptown Manhattan,
a Shabbat service at a Jewish Orthodox Synagogue in Washington D.C., as well as hearing multiple speakers
on the subject of dialogue.
Of course, no trip to these renowned locations would be complete without a large amount of sightseeing.
The majority of these photographs consists of exactly that, the sightseeing.

After a short lay-over in Minneapolis and a flight to New York LaGuardia, we arrived in New York.
The group caught cabs to the Manhattan YMCA. Each group quickly learned from
their cab drivers that the addresses we gave them were incorrect. Luckily, however
all of the cabbies knew the correct address and all arrived without incident.
After assigning rooms and putting away our luggage, we headed to the Empire
State Building, our first activity in the Big Apple.

The famous Flatiron Building (the triangular one) at the intersection of Broadway, 23rd St. and 5th Ave.
23rd Street is the horizontal road, Broadway travels from the upper left to the
lower middle, and 5th Avenue travels from the intersection to the upper right.
